Chalon Champforgeuil airport belongs to the greater Chalon authority, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Grand Chalon.

Greater Chalon consists of 39 towns and villages that make up the biggest urban area in the Departement of Saône-et-Loire (71), the 2nd economic centre in Burgundy, with a total surface area of 431 km² and a population of almost 109,700 inhabitants.

The Communauté d’Agglomération exercises its competence over Chalon Champforgeuil airport through :

• economic development projects (site creation and development, maintenance and management of industrial, commercial, tertiary, small business, tourist, port and airport development zones of community interest);
• specific projects to develop air, road and waterway infrastructures and cultural and sports facilities of community interest.
